Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP)


Thank you to everyone who submitted applications for the FY26 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), and excellent job submitting within a very short timeline!
Applications in Astra are now closed, but it's never to early to start preparing for FY27.

A few stats on received submissions:

  • 88 total submission facilities
  • 59 total organizations submitted
  • nearly $11M in funding requested (competing for an estimated $2.1M in available funding for Kansas)

Answers to Common Questions:

Q: I Submitted an application, what am I supposed to do now?
A: Over the next few days, our team will be conducting a high-level review of all applications. Applicants are encouraged to watch your email for requests for additional information. If you get one, please respond promptly. If you do not receive a follow-up email, assume all is acceptable with your application.

Q: What should I do if I missed the FY26 NSGP opportunity?
A: It is never too early to start preparing for FY27. As we've seen, you may only have about 2 weeks, to submit an application once the grant is released by FEMA. Historically, the application process and requirements from year to year are very similar, so you can start preparing for FY27 now using the resources on the application info page.

Q: When will I hear back regarding my FY25 application?
A: There is still no word from FEMA on funded applicants, but they assure us it will be "soon"., We will contact you as soon as we have the results.

Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) will be hosting an informational webinar with the purpose of preparing potential applicants for the upcoming FY26 NSGP application process, and to allow time for any questions.

12/23/25 FY25 NSGP Submission Status

Thank you to all the organizations that submitted applications for the FY25 Nonprofit Security Grant Program through the State of Kansas.

Kansas received applications for 80 organizations, representing 121 facilities. The funding requests totaled $15.3 million. These Kansas applications will compete for an estimated $2.1 in available funding.

Due to delays related to the federal shutdown and other federal grant priorities, we do not expect to receive results from FEMA before late in the first quarter of 2026. We will inform nonprofit applicants as soon as we have news to share.

(7/20/26 Update: We still have not received word from FEMA, but expect to hear something soon. All applicants will be contacted once information is released to the states.)
