The FY24 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) was released on April 16th!

Submission Deadline: May 28 on Astra

Kansas City Area - Kansas City has once again been selected as part of the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). Nonprofits from the counties Leavenworth, Wyandotte, and Johnson, will have to apply to the NSGP through the Missouri Office of Homeland Security

The FY24 target allocation for the state of Kansas is $1,852,500. As always, this will be a very competitive process. Utilize resources on our trainings and application information pages to help your organization achieve the best score possible.

Each organization can request up to $150,000 per facility, with up to three facilities for a maximum of $450,000. If submitting for multiple facilities, each facility must fill out it's own Investment Justification (IJ).

For those interested in the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), the Astra system offers two functions for our partners:

  1. Subscribing for NSGP announcements to stay informed about the application process. Everyone should subscribe.
  2. Registering as a user. Those interested in submitting an application should register. All applications must be submitted through Astra this year.

If you are interested in applying for the FY24 Nonprofit Security Grant Program and have not yet registered as an Astra user, register here: https://nsgp.astrakansas.com/users/new

Your registration will be reviewed by an administrator before it is approved, which may take 1-2 days. Once you have completed your documents, you will use Astra to submit them. As a reminder, the required documents for each application are:

  1. NSGP Investment Justification (IJ)
  2. Vulnerability/Risk Assessment
  3. Mission Statement (can be shared between facilities)

FY24 application milestones and deadlines:

  • April 16: Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) released
  • April 16-19: State Administrative Agency (SAA) reviews NOFO guidelines and requirements
  • By April 22: SAA communicates additional info to potential grantees
  • April 22-May 27: Technical assistance offered by SAA, applicants finalize and submit application
  • May 28: Final deadline for nonprofit application submission on Astra
  • May 28-June 24: SAA reviews, scores, "rolls up" information, and prepares Kansas application for submission
  • June 24: Estimated NOFO final submission date for SAA

**Important Note: Do NOT submit your application until you receive submission instructions from the SAA, which will be communicated by about April 22nd. All applications will submit on the Astra platform this year.
