6/24/26 FEMA Update Regarding FY25 Subapplicants and FY26 Opportunity

For FY25 subapplicants: The latest word from FEMA is that nonprofit awardees will be announced in mid-July. We will update you as soon as we know anything further. to the states soon.

FY26 Opportunity FEMA has released the FY26 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Kansas is assessing the process and awaiting further clarification from FEMA on whether nonprofit applications must be submitted now or will be collected later.

Meanwhile, nonprofit organizations are encouraged to work towards finalizing your individual investment justifications (IJs) and supporting information ASAP.

  • Nonprofit organizations in the counties of Wyandotte, Johnson, and Leavenworth (Kansas City Metro area) will apply through the State of Missouri.
  • Kansas nonprofit organizations outside of those counties will apply by uploading information in the Astra portal once the application is officially open.

Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) will be hosting an informational webinar with the purpose of preparing potential applicants for the upcoming FY26 NSGP application process, and to allow time for any questions.

12/23/25 FY25 NSGP Submission Status

Thank you to all the organizations that submitted applications for the FY25 Nonprofit Security Grant Program through the State of Kansas.

Kansas received applications for 80 organizations, representing 121 facilities. The funding requests totaled $15.3 million. These Kansas applications will compete for an estimated $2.1 in available funding.

Due to delays related to the federal shutdown and other federal grant priorities, we do not expect to receive results from FEMA before late in the first quarter of 2026. We will inform nonprofit applicants as soon as we have news to share.
